Waving the White Flag

Take the last post, and substitute Lukas for Niklas and that's what we were dealing with yesterday. A few days ago, we ended up taking Niklas to the doctor and learned he had an ear infection. Considering all that could have been the source of his pain, this diagnosis was actually a blessing. The next day, Gabbie kept touching her ear and saying "ear hurts" and was not in the best of moods either. In the spirit of efficiency, I decided to take her and Lukas to the doctor together because he was starting to act fussy as well. Turns out, Gabbie had an ear infection as well. Lukas was clear, but developed a hack that got us up at 4:00 am yesterday. This cold was a real doozy, any my fourth since October 2nd. My mom has been sick for the past two weeks and has now passed it along to my dad. I caught the illness on Christmas Eve and haven't been able to shake it since.

This morning, however, I woke up for working finally feeling good after nearly 2 weeks of being sick. The kids all slept through the night and woke up with bright and shiny smiles on their faces. Greta said today was the best day the crew has had in a while. The last two times I have taken time off have not turned out so well. Maybe the next vacation will go a little better.

Keep your eye on Lukas as ear infections pop up literally in an hour. I feel like the pro on those. All 3 of my kids battled them. I was generous with the ibuprofen! God gave me one when they were little so I knew the pain they were in. I think I told you, I never slept through the night for 10 years once I started having kids! I always wonder why God makes sleep so important to the human body but then makes it so hard to get! Lisa D.

Glad to hear everyone is feeling better. I am one of those mom's whose kids never got ear infections; so it's good to listen to a seasoned pro like Lisa.

I think I might be on the mend; felling slightly better each day.

Hey, I had 5 colds in 2008. But from July to Dec I had zero! Then, I got one again about a week ago. I am hacking my lungs out, my sinus are just starting to ease up a bit but were so clogged. Viktor had the same thing a couple of weeks ago but his did not last that long. It is amazing how having children changes that. I never used to get sick. At first I was thinking that my age might have something to do with it but I read your blogs and also talk to others and it is just one of those lovely things that comes with having kids.

So one month in Jan, and one cold already!

Your trip to the Dominican sounded great.

Anyway,, we should get together and catch up soon. Eddie.
